Finding Purpose, Navigating Post-Grad Life, & The Holiday

DAY 3 OF BLOGMAS!

It is Monday. And I almost wrote above that it’s day 4 of Blogmas…when it’s CLEARLY day 3. That’s where my brain is at, people. It’s been the Monday of all Mondays. Work was slow and all I wanted was a fresh cup of coffee. But alas, it’s 7:30 p.m. and I’m writing this post! I know the cardinal rule of bloggers is to always write a post a week ahead of time, but this is Blogmas and I have a job so this is as good as it’s gonna get. Lol.

NAVIGATING POST-GRAD LIFE…

I wrote a post months ago about creating content after college and moving back home after graduation. Reading over it, I was so excited back then. Although, I was in the season of finding a job and getting stressed that I wasn’t getting any responses from job applications I sent out.

It was during that season of waiting on job applications that I really grew in my faith. I read my Bible, I prayed to God over feelings of hopelessness, and more importantly, I danced with Jesus. I saw Him in my everyday life. When I was feeling stressed, annoyed, or sometimes angry, it’s like Jesus would tap my shoulder and say “no, child, stop being frustrated. Whatever has got you frustrated, it’s not worth it.”

And that really hit home for me. Ever since then, I feel like I can conquer the world. I have this new perspective since graduating college — a year early (I always have to say I graduated early, lol). I can do anything, be anything, and go anywhere. If I want to start a blog, I can. If I want to travel the world, I can. I have the strength of God with me to do anything I want. To be the person God created me to be.

“Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.” -Ephesians 6:14-15

If you’re in this post-grad season with me, or about to enter into it, then know this: God is with you. God knows your pain, your struggles, your frustrations. He’s got you. Just because your dream job isn’t getting back to you or you’re watching others get their dream jobs instead of you, does not mean you’re worthless. It means God just isn’t ready to unveil His plan for you. And trust me, girl, His plan is worth waiting for.

FINDING PURPOSE…

I wish I had a story to tell you. I wish I had a clever anecdote I can start this blog post with. But I don’t. You know what? I’m 22-years-old. I have my life to live. I’m living God’s plan for me. I have a purpose, and I’m still searching for it. And you do too, my sweet child. You have a purpose. God has a purpose for you, or otherwise, you wouldn’t be here.

Do you remember Saul from Acts 9? There’s this verse that really resonated with me this morning. It goes a little something like this:

“So Saul stayed with them and moved about freely in Jerusalem, speaking boldly in the name of the Lord.” -Acts 9:28

Saul, a man who threatened anyone followed the Lord. A light appeared to him one day and shone through him. Shone through him, showing him the way of the Lord. And Saul could see again. Literally. It says in Acts 9:18 that Saul could see again. And then Saul goes about Damascus and later Jerusalem speaking boldly in the name of the Lord.

Saul, a man who threatened anyone followed the Lord is now speaking boldly in the name of the Lord. That’s how powerful the Lord works.

GIRL, you’re amazing. You are going to accomplish great things. How do I know this? Because I KNOW. The next time you doubt yourself, the next time you feel hopeless and feel like giving up, just know that the Lord works in mysterious ways. Tomorrow is a brand new day filled with wonderful, mysterious things.

You’re reading this post which means you want to find a purpose. Look no further. You have a purpose. What do you like to do? Do you like to write? Do you love to read? Do you love helping others? Whatever you like to do, whatever you enjoy in your free time, IS your purpose!

WATCHING THE HOLIDAY (& other Christmas movies)

I couldn’t write a blog post without featuring something Christmas, right? I watched The Holiday for the billionth time yesterday. My Lord, my Lord…one of my FAVORITE Christmas movies. Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jack Black…the list of reasons why I love that movie keeps going on and on.
